Allah tells us in the Qur'an, "And when the news of (the birth of) a female (child) is brought to any of them. his face becomes dark, and he is filled with inward grief!" (An-Nahl 16: 58)
Allah had informed us of the sadness some will feel when they hear the news of a baby girl. This verse was revealed over fourteen hundred years ago and still today when people receive the news that they will raise a baby girl there faces become gloom and they ask themselves why? Why is it we do not understand that everything is from Allah and Allah chooses the best for each of us?
Many Muslim women face pressure from their in-laws to bear a baby boy. If the boy does not come, there is something wrong with the woman and she should see a doctor or keep becoming pregnant until the boy comes. There are many stories where women feel demands to keep becoming pregnant to give birth to a boy. Sometimes a woman will have 10 girls and then finally the 11th child is a boy.
Well most women would like at least one boy and one girl, there should not be pressure put on a woman to conceive a boy. We must believe in the Qadar (Fate) of Allah and we must realize Allah has written all that will happen to us. We must be patient and except what Allah has given us.
After a baby comes and it is three months old, everyone begins asking the mother if she is pregnant yet? We must realize that bearing a child in a womb for nine months is something very difficult and a test from Allah. Medically speaking it takes a woman twice as much time to heal as it takes to be pregnant.
It is proven that a woman who conceives a baby before 6 months after a birth, the birth weight of the new baby will be lower. The woman has not had proper time to replenish the nutrients that the first baby had used. We must comprehend the delicate process of pregnancy and the complexity it has on the body.
Also as Muslims we should be breastfeeding our babies for two years if possible. It is the babies' right to be breastfeed for the full period unless the parents agree otherwise. How can one breastfeed a baby for the full extent if they become pregnant with another child shortly after?
People must realize that women are not machines that can produce a baby each year. First it is not fair to the mother's health and second it is not fair to babies involved.
Allah has told in the Qur'an, "To Allah belongs the Kingdom of the heavens and the earth. He creates what He wills. He bestows female (offspring) upon whom He wills, and he bestows male (offspring) upon whom he wills. Or He bestows both males and females, and he renders barren whom He wills. He is the All-Knower and He is Able to do all things." (Ash-Shura: 49-50)
We must always thank Allah for all the blessing he has bestowed on us. If we have even one baby we should say Alhumduillah, because there are many people whom Allah has not blessed with children.
Whatever Allah gives us we should be happy and @-@@-@@-@@-@@-@@-@@-@ with. Let us always look to the people who have less then us, so that we may thank Allah for the true blessing He has given us!
